2nd Semester Home Project Process Post

I have gotten a good bit of progress on my 2nd Semester Home Project. Since I don't have a press to do more fine point etching, I want to create a drawing that will both follow the same theme as the in-class projects that I have been working on, as well as help me hone down my craft. One particular aspect that I think I need to work on that could benefit my etchings is my skill in hatching. I want to focus on a drawing with a lot of darks that I could practice hatching on, and I'll try to make sure my marks are separated and one-directional like those I would make carving into a plate. I think I will try and continue the robotic figures theme that I have with my other drawings like my summer project, and possibly also try and integrate some of the structural design in my oil rigs. I think trying to make a polished project purely focused on what I can do without worrying about the inking and etching into the plate can help me improve my skills so that my etchings will be better in the future.
