I decided to look into Samuel Gomez, a contemporary artist. His subject matter, usually dystopian commentaries, and medium, usually ink and graphite drawings, are very similar to the work I do, so I thought I could learn a lot from the work he does.
He is a New York artist born in the Dominican Republic, and has a background in Creative Design and Illustration.
I got a lot of inspiration from how he composed his drawings with incredibly complexity and tons of objects to really add an incredible amount of noisiness, usually employed to drive down whatever theme the drawing was attempting to get across.

I thought Gomez's Enlightenment was one of his most impressive works. The sheer amount of detail he achieved, as well as the realism, was really cool to me. According to the short video I watched regarding the piece, it took 2 years for him to create it, which is mind-blowing for me. But I can totally see the amount of effort that he put into it, and I think employing such detail can really get the point across. I'm not so sure I'm ready to take 2 years to make a drawing myself, but I think it does show there is beauty in extreme detail and dedication. When I would attempt to combine that many different components into one piece, it would end up a jumbled mess, but because of the time spent and care into making each bit realistic, Gomez really achieves something insane.
