After going through the gallery of gold and silver key award winning pieces of art, I learned a lot about what the judges do and don't like. It seemed like all of the gold key pieces in specific had something special, some quirk that set them out from the rest of them. They were also usually on the larger scale size, as well as having a sense of completeness and polishing on them. It also helped when a piece would tackle with an interesting or impactful issue and make it the focus of the art, as I think it invoked more meaning to the judges, who would end up giving it a higher rating. I also think the class discussion surrounding photography of work was really interesting as I had found it somewhat confusing why there was such a precise process to photograph work, but now I have reached an understanding.
